Course coverage

Have questions about our course? We’ve got answers.

  • Courses are available via Microsoft Team or in-person by request.

  • The 6-week online course includes six 4-hour lectures (24 hours of instruction). Students have the chance to complete workshops outside of class. Workshops from the previous week are reviewed during class.

In person classes range from 1-3 days and are typically help from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.

  • Each of our live online sessions are recorded. These recordings can be provided to students who miss class or would like to review the class content during the six-week class period. Additionally, recordings will be available for 4 weeks after class has concluded.

  • Individual registrations for our standard online classes will be fully refunded if canceled earlier than 60 days prior to the first class. Registrations will be 50% refunded if canceled earlier than 30 days prior to the first class. No refunds will be provided for cancelations within 30 days of the start of the first class. However, registration can be rolled over to the next offering of the class if notice is provided anytime earlier than 7 days before the start of the first class.

  • Topics include: 2D flow theory, RASMapper, 2D model troubleshooting and calibration, Two-dimensional flow analysis using the full Shallow Water Equations (SWE) or Diffusion Wave equations in 2D, ability to perform a combination of 1D and 2D flow analysis in the same model, the use of unstructured or structured computational meshes for the 2D flow areas, 2D bridges, spatial precipitation (i.e. rain on grid), turbulence and wind.

  • As of now, the new stormwater feature in RAS is not included in this class curriculum. However, we will cover this topic in future classes once RAS 6.6 is no longer a “Beta” version.

  • The fully functional release of RAS2025 set for fall of 2026. Until then, this class will focus on the legacy version of the software which is the only version that HEC currently recommends be used for real projects. More to come soon!

  • Yes- we will send you a certificate of completion for 24 PDH hours upon finishing the course. Most state licensing boards in the U.S. accept PDH credits for this course. However, please reach out to us or your state board to confirm if you are unsure.

  • Currently we don’t offer a discounted registration. However, if you are unable to pay for the course reach out to us via the “Contact” tab.
