Your Instructors

  • Chris is a hydraulic engineer with 32 years’ experience in hydraulic design, hydraulic modeling and software development.  Chris has been a HEC-RAS instructor for over 24 years, beginning as a member of the HEC-RAS Development Team.  He has taught all levels of HEC-RAS courses throughout the United States and in thirteen countries around the world.  Chris is the founder of the HEC-RAS blog “The RAS Solution” and wrote the popular HEC-RAS Automation book “Breaking the HEC-RAS Code”.  He regularly presents for the Australian Water School and is the co-host of the HEC-RAS themed podcast “Full Momentum”.  Chris is a professional engineer and a board certified water resources engineer through the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers. 

  • Ben is a hydraulic engineer and certified floodplain manager with 11 years’ experience in hydraulic design, hydraulic modeling and floodplain management.  Ben has been a HEC-RAS instructor for 8 years and has taught all levels of HEC-RAS modeling to professional engineers and scientists around the US and the world. Ben is the founder and host of the Full Momentum Video Podcast series which is hosted on YouTube.

  • Chris is a hydraulic engineer and certified floodplain manager with 17 years of experience in floodplain modeling and mapping at the Illinois State Water Survey in Champaign, IL.  Chris has been a reviewer of FEMA Letter of Map Revisions for 15 years and has taught numerous workshops on pipe flow modeling with RAS and floodplain map revisions.  He leads a team of engineers developing large scale 1D and 2D HEC-RAS models for floodplain map updates in Illinois.

Who we are

We teach professional engineers and scientists how to use 1D and 2D HEC-RAS. We do this through live online classes run through Microsoft Teams, on demand training modules, and in person classes as requested.
